Family First Forever
On July 6th, 2006, my favorite aunt, Mary Anne Lincoln passed away. My father's only sister suffered with Alzheimers for the past several years. In January, while visiting my parents in Mesa, AZ, the three of us traveled down to Tucson to see Aunt Anne and Uncle Bill and help celebrate her birthday. When we heard she was terminal, I flew to Mesa where my parents and brother live to be with the family, arriving late Wed night. The following day, after the arrival of my cousin Bill (her son) she passed away in her sleep.
The family descended on Tucson in a show of support on Sat and Sun for the viewing and funeral. My parents, my brother , his wife and I arrived on Sat afternoon and spent time after the viewing visiting with my uncle and cousins. The following day we spent the morning at Uncle Bill's home prior to the funeral at the church.
In our family , we have always put family first - gathering together as a family to celebrate, rejoice, mourn or grieve.
